DMAX Rolls Out Giant Street Sculptures Across German Cities for Its Autumn Push

Warner Bros. Discovery channel DMAX has anchored its autumn campaign with oversized real-life installations in German inner cities — including a working 6.35-metre lighthouse — to promote three factual-entertainment formats.

What DMAX launched

Warner Bros. Discovery channel DMAX has launched a 360-degree autumn campaign, 'Der Herbst auf DMAX wird groß. Größer. Noch größer.' ('Autumn on DMAX gets big. Bigger. Even bigger.'), anchored by oversized real-life installations placed in German inner cities. The stunts include a 6.35-metre working lighthouse, a 2.30-metre gold-pan fountain and a 2.20-metre golden-teeth sculpture, promoting three autumn formats.

Munich ran 5-6 September, with Berlin following 12-13 September, backed by TV, print, radio, digital and out-of-home.

Why it matters

In an attention economy dominated by scrollable, skippable digital, physical spectacle is a counter-move. A 6.35-metre lighthouse in a city centre cannot be scrolled past; it forces a double-take, generates photos, and earns the social sharing a banner ad never will. DMAX is buying attention with scale rather than frequency.

Our read: the installations are engineered for the second screen. The real audience is not just the passer-by in Munich but the far larger one who sees the photos online. Physical stunts now work hardest as content-generation machines — the object exists to be filmed, and the film is the media.

What businesses should do

If you want cut-through in a saturated feed, consider a physical anchor that is impossible to ignore and irresistible to photograph. One striking real-world object can generate more earned reach than a much larger spend on conventional digital.

But design the stunt for sharing, not just for the street. The question is not "how many people walk past" but "will they film it and post it". Scale, surprise and a clear brand link are what turn a sculpture into distributed media.

Physical spectacle cuts through a saturated digital feed and generates photos and social sharing that conventional ads cannot.

A 6.35-metre lighthouse in a city centre can't be scrolled past — that's the whole point. The real audience isn't the passer-by, it's the far bigger crowd who sees the photos online. In a scrollable world, an unscrollable physical object is a cut-through weapon — but only if it's built to be photographed and shared.

Is there a physical, impossible-to-ignore idea that could earn your brand more attention than another digital buy?
