Solana ETFs Overtake XRP Funds in Assets, Topping $1.9B as Inflows Accelerate

TL;DR: Solana ETFs have overtaken XRP funds by total assets, reaching $1.91 billion versus XRP's $1.69 billion, as institutional money rotates toward SOL at a faster clip.

Solana pulls ahead

As of 1 October 2026, Solana ETFs held $1.91 billion in assets, overtaking XRP ETFs at $1.69 billion, according to Bitcoin.com data. The crossover first happened on 17 September and has held since.

Bitwise leads both categories: its Solana product, BSOL, sits at around $1.22 billion, while its XRP product holds roughly $621.9 million.

The flows tell the story

The momentum is in the flows. Over an eight-day window, Solana ETFs drew about $254 million against $83.63 million for XRP. Over 30 days the gap was similar: $255.51 million into SOL versus $111.09 million into XRP.

In other words, Solana is not just ahead on the scoreboard, it is pulling away. Early institutional allocators are choosing SOL at more than twice the pace of XRP.

Penetration, not just size

The more striking number is penetration. Solana ETF assets equal 2.74% of SOL's market capitalisation, versus 1.79% for XRP, even though XRP's market cap of $96.94 billion dwarfs Solana's $71.77 billion.

That is the real signal. Despite XRP's larger cap and deep retail base, institutions are allocating a bigger slice of Solana's float through regulated wrappers. They appear to see SOL as the more investable next asset.

It is worth remembering these are still young products. Single-asset crypto ETFs beyond Bitcoin and Ether only recently cleared regulatory hurdles, so the numbers are early readings rather than settled verdicts. But early capital often sets the pecking order that later money follows.

Marketing Minute's read: the race to be the third asset

After Bitcoin and Ether, the race to be crypto's third institutional asset is now a live horse race, and the ETF money is voting with its feet. Which chain wins that allocation shapes which ecosystem gets enterprise attention, developer mindshare and, eventually, marketing budgets.

For brands and builders, institutional preference is a leading indicator of legitimacy. If you are deciding where to deploy, partner or build, the direction of regulated inflows is a cleaner signal than social-media noise.

Our framework: watch three things together — total assets, net flows and ETF-to-cap penetration. Size tells you where the money is; flows and penetration tell you where it is going. Right now all three favour Solana.

When you're deciding which ecosystem to build or market in, that kind of institutional vote tells you more than any price chart. — Daniel Nikolla, Founder of Merx Marketing
