Robinhood Adds AI Trading Agents, Crypto Perps and Weekend Trading

At its HOOD Summit on 29 September, Robinhood unveiled AI trading agents built on OpenAI and Anthropic models, leveraged crypto perpetual futures of up to 10x, and weekend stock trading, a full-court push to win active traders.
What Robinhood Launched
Robinhood Agents lets customers spin up AI assistants, powered by OpenAI or Anthropic models, inside dedicated trading accounts that can analyse markets, build watchlists and execute trades across stocks, options and crypto. A feature called 'Loops' runs standing instructions automatically when set conditions are met. The company says more than 150,000 agentic accounts have been created since it opened its infrastructure to outside AI agents earlier in 2026.
On crypto, Robinhood is rolling out perpetual futures for eligible US retail customers through Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp, with up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and ether and 3x on other assets. It also added weekend stock and ETF trading on Saturdays and Sundays via the Bruce ATS. 'One of our top priorities as a company is to be number one for active traders,' said VP of product management Abhishek Fatehpuria.
Our Read: The Gamification of Everything
This is Robinhood industrialising engagement. AI agents that trade while you sleep, 10x leverage and always-on markets are all designed to keep users active, and activity, not investing, is how Robinhood makes money.
For marketers and fintech watchers, it is a masterclass in removing friction: every barrier between impulse and trade is being dissolved. That is brilliant product design and a genuine risk-management question rolled into one.
The Leverage and AI Risk
Handing retail investors 10x leverage and autonomous AI agents is a potent combination. Robinhood deliberately capped leverage lower on volatile tokens, a nod to the danger, but perpetual futures have liquidated countless traders in every prior cycle.
The AI angle raises new questions too: who is accountable when an agent's 'Loop' executes a losing trade at 3am? Expect regulators to scrutinise autonomous retail trading closely as it scales.
What It Signals for the Industry
Robinhood is setting the competitive bar: rivals will feel pressure to match AI agents and extended hours or cede active traders. The brokerage that makes trading feel effortless wins the engagement war.
For brands in finance, the lesson is broader: AI agents are moving from novelty to interface. When 150,000 users already let software act on their behalf, 'agentic' is no longer a demo; it is a distribution channel to design for.

Robinhood's genius is removing friction, and its risk is the same thing. AI agents trading while you sleep and 10x leverage keep users active, which is how the business earns. For anyone building in finance, the signal is clear: agentic tools are becoming the interface, so design for a world where software, not the customer, places the order. — Daniel Nikolla, Founder of Merx Marketing
When a platform's growth depends on engagement, every feature that removes friction is a business decision first and a safety question second.
