CCMO Mutuelle Marks 80 Years by Casting Eight of Its Own Employees

Regional French insurer CCMO Mutuelle has marked its 80th anniversary with 'La Traversée du Temps', a Youmeno-made campaign starring eight of its own staff alongside professional actors.

What CCMO launched

Regional French mutual insurer CCMO Mutuelle, founded in 1943, has celebrated its 80th anniversary with 'La Traversée du Temps' ('The Journey Through Time'), a campaign by Paris agency Youmeno featuring eight of its own employees — from IT, sales and member relations — alongside professional actors. The 20-second TV spot, plus posters, radio and digital, ran across the Hauts-de-France region from 1 September, produced by Barjabulle.

For an anniversary that could have defaulted to nostalgia, the casting decision is what gives the work its point of view.

Why it matters

Casting real employees is a small decision with an outsized effect. A mutual insurer's whole proposition is that it is owned by and run for its members, not shareholders. Putting actual staff on screen quietly proves that human, local character rather than just claiming it.

Our read: this is authenticity as strategy, not gimmick. For a member-owned regional insurer competing against national brands with bigger budgets, its people are the differentiator national rivals cannot replicate. The 80-year heritage plus real faces is a defensible position built on what CCMO actually is.

What businesses should do

If your competitive edge is being local, human or member-owned, show the humans. Stock models and slick actors signal the opposite of intimacy. Real staff — imperfect, recognisable, regional — are proof you cannot fake.

And use anniversaries as reasons to restate identity, not just celebrate. CCMO turned 80 years into a story about continuity and people. A milestone is an excuse to remind customers what you stand for; waste it on cake and you have missed the point.
